Word on the street is that the Finance department is restructuring and centralizing accounting so we can be more effective in how we manage our cash flow. They are also introducing an FP&A function.

What, exactly, is FP&A and what do they do?

FP&A stands for Financial Planning and Analysis. While the accounting team handles the current data of the business, the FP&A function enables us to look ahead and make wiser decisions that allow the company to stay afloat in unpredictable seasons and keep growing.

Basically, they help us strategize how to be most effective as a business.

CFO Phil Carey said, “We are focused on developing a strong Financial Planning and Analysis team. This will enable the finance team to become better business partners, interject more analytics into business decisions and create time and space between core accounting and the business teams. We are becoming more focused on the mission and proactive in servicing the business.”

At the end of the day, we created a team that not only reports on the news but also helps make the news.

The FP&A team consists of Assistant Treasurer Amanda Alexandrowicz, Dane Butters, Manager of Peoria’s FP&A, and Joshua Sprague, Manager of EWP’s FP&A.

Adding the FP&A function allows LIBERTY U.S.A. to operate with a more mature Finance function, setting us up for a successful future.
