Need Help? Don't Overlook the FREE Employee Assistance Program

Hi! This is Reace Smith, Head of Communications. I want to share a personal story about what an EAP can do.

Sixteen years ago, my mother-in-law was dealing with some health issues and came to live with us. We had a two-year-old toddler and a newborn at home, I was working full-time and my husband was getting his business off the ground. We agreed to find a place for my mother-in-law to live nearby, but neither of us had the bandwidth to find her the health care she needed or the right assisted living community. At work I shared this dilemma with a co-worker who suggested I call the EAP. I thought the EAP was for free visits for a therapist—I had no idea that they helped with anything else. One week later I had a list of doctors who were taking Medicare and a list of communities to visit that was in the price range we needed. Calling the EAP took so much stress off our plate that we later reached out for daycare help.
