🦺 Safety Remains Our #1 Priority

In light of the many changes that have happened over the past couple of months, it’s important to note that one thing doesn’t change: Safety Remains our #1 priority.

“Safety is everyone’s job, not just those with ‘safety’ in their title,” said Mary McCool, SVP Specialty Wire. “We encourage all our employees to get involved in making our workplace the safest it can be.”

Moving forward, the Safety team is structured differently than the past year. Safety leaders report into the SVPs and have the following responsibilities:

  • Dan Johnson manages Safety efforts in Johnstown and in Solon. Dan works with operation managers and employees at both sites to help identify risks and opportunities that will continue our mission of keeping our employees safe.

  • Craig Catton will manage all the safety efforts for Peoria. Together with Dan they will continue to connect with our parent company providing reports and leading key initiatives to support our journey to zero.

  • Scott Berndt will join the EWP team in August to manage the safety efforts at the EWP plants. He will work with the teams to implement improvements and initiatives to ensure we have the tools necessary to keep moving forward on path towards an injury-free workplace.

“The structure may be different, but it doesn’t change our focus,” Pieter Vanderwesthuizen, SVP Steel and Wire, said. “Our goal remains to prevent injuries and to be an injury-free workplace. Let’s continue to do our part to stay safe.”
