Two is a Magic Number

It’s been two years since Warren had a recordable injury, and that’s something to be proud of.

The team in Warren approaches safety understanding that perfection is impossible, but progress is achievable. They work to find opportunities to improve safety every day.

Neil Hoffman, Warren’s Health and Safety Manager, said, “We believe that Warren has created a behavior-based safety culture grounded in relationships and trust between leadership and the workforce.”

How does that work? Concerns brought up from all levels are dealt with immediately or tracked through completion on an accountability board. A few broader initiatives such as Man/Machine interface audits, 5S initiatives, and machine guarding have helped the leadership team engage with employees to find solutions that work for everyone.

“It takes everyone to create a safety-driven culture,” Neil said. “We strive to make small improvements every day.”

EWP VP of Operations Tim Doyle, said, “Congratulations to the Warren facility for their two-year recordable-free accomplishment. Achievements of this nature are not easy, and it’s a testament to the safety-driven culture displayed by all employees. Being a part of EWP Warren for the last year, I personally witness the commitment every time I visit. Thank you to everyone in the plant who has taken part in this journey. Your leadership and participation in making every day safe is sincerely appreciated.”
